Mameda Machi in Ohinta

Hi there! How are you doing? I hope you are doing great! These last 2-3 years, I’ve been in love with something Japanese. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve been learning English and other foreign languages and so interested in overseas cultures. However, recently I am so fascinated with my fellow Japanese culture which is deeply rooted in myself. And this time, we visited a traditional Japanese castle town, Mameda Machi in Ohita prefecture.

The old castle town is preserved carefully by the local government and they have more than 100 years old housings.

The place is famous for soy sauce and they even present their soy sauce to Japanese Royal Family.

The castle town has many shops where they sell Japanese classical goodies. I bought these. The handkerchief has Daruma pattern. Daruma is an traditional Japanese doll which represents never-give-up spirit. People say Daruma may fall down 7 times but it gets up 8 times. The pen case has Japanese checker pattern. The pattern is traditional pattern of Japan and even a logo of Tokyo Olympics in 2020 has the same checker pattern. I always believe that we treasure such a beautiful culture and I’m so proud of it!

And that’s all for today. See you next time! Blessings to you all!
