Went to Nishino Kana’s concert first time in 7 years. Kanayan is super cute. Kanayan is very bright. And I believe Kawaii is righteous. She sparkles vibrant energy to the fullest, and loves chatting in Mie dialect. And always being Kawaii is the core identity of Kanayan.

七年ぶりに西野カナのコンサートへ行ってきた。カナやんはめちゃめちゃ可愛い。カナやんはめちゃめちゃ明るい。そして、可愛いは正義だ。弾けるほどに明るいキラキラしたエネルギーを振り撒き、三重の伊勢弁でめちゃめちゃ喋る。いつも可愛くしてる！それがカナやんのアイデンティティの軸だ。

She shared a funny episode of hers of 15 years ago, when she sang at Hakata Canal City, a bird’s dropping fell on her head. She laughed at herself saying isn’t it hilarious? and I thought I would be knocked out by her charm and I was completely knocked out with the positivity.

それでも、15年前に博多キャナルシティで歌った時に、鳥のフンが頭に落ちてきた話なんかもウケるやろ！としてくれて、こりゃノックアウトされちゃうなと思い、やっぱり今回もその陽キャっ気に余すことなく完全にノックアウトされた。

Kanayan said she likes Hakata dialect, and “love it!”(Sukitt-chan) in the dialect is so Kawaii. As a native speaker of Hakata dialect, I also think “Cuz I love it!”(Sukitt-cha-mong) is adorable.

カナやんは博多弁が好きで、「好きっちゃん」って言葉がめちゃ可愛いなぁと話してくれた。因みに私は博多弁ネイティブとして、もう一つ踏み込んで「好きっちゃもん」も萌え語だと思っている。

Concert is total work of art. Songs, instrumental performance, dance, lazar beam, lighting, penlight effect, movies of anime & drawing & scrapbooking & others, fire pillars, advertising balloon, stage props, turning stage, and etc. The stage Team Nishino Kana created was the front runners’ modern art, I was able to learn a lot. Kanayan must be participating in the live stage direction as a producer also, and I can tell they must have worked rigorously with trial and errors considering to use time and space maximumly. All and all, 21st century live concert is overwhelmingly fantastic.

コンサートは総合芸術だ。歌、楽器演奏、ダンス、レーザービーム、照明、ペンライト効果、動画、アニメ映像、スクラップブック作り映像、火柱、アドバルーン、小道具、それに回転ステージなどなど。チーム西野カナが作り上げたステージは、現代アートの最前線で学ぶものが非常に多い。カナやんもそのコンサート演出に、プロデューサー目線で参加している筈で、全体を見渡してどのような空間と時間を作り上げようかと、議論と試行錯誤を重ねて来たのがわかる。それにしても21世紀型のコンサートは、圧倒的にファンタスティックだ。

Kanayan reminds me of Haruki Murakami’s essay titled ‘On seeing the 100% girl one April morning’. Yes, 100% girl is Nishino Kana. She went to college while working as a singer, and she studied English, presentation, and marketing. Then she’ been enthroning in the position of diva.

私にとってカナやんは、村上春樹のエッセイ『4月のある晴れた朝に100パーセントの女の子に出会うことについて』を思い出させる存在だ。100%の女の子、それが西野カナだ。歌手活動と並行して大学へも通い、そこで英語やプレゼンやマーケティング手法を学び、以来歌姫として君臨してきた。

And as 100% professional, she never sinks in narcissism, instead uses herself as a mirror and reflects upon fans and gives courage embodying the message of striving one’s best is Kawaii and lovely and the strongest.

そして100%のプロフェッショナルとして自分のナルシズムに沈むのではなく、自分を鏡の様な役割に置き、その鏡でファンを照り返すことで勇気を送り、「一生懸命」であることは可愛くて素敵で最強なのだというメッセージを発してきた。

Many of Kanayan’s fans are the same generation working girls. Love and career and marriage, they do their best in everything. At times get hurt and feel down, but they are sparkling so shiningly. And Kanayan sings many songs featuring friendship, and they touch heart strings of many gals. Looking back the footsteps of divas, singers who write songs of friendship and express in various ways were absolutely few. The spontaneous good hearted was the reason why she attracts many of girl fans.

カナやんのファンには、同世代の働く女子たちが多い。恋もキャリアも結婚も！と時に傷つきながらも、何にでも全力投球しているキラキラ女子たちだ。そして、カナやんは友情の歌をたくさん歌っている。それが多くの女の子たちの心に刺さる。これまでの歌姫の軌跡を辿ると、友情を歌の題材にして歌詞を書き、色んな形で表現する人はほとんどいなかった。その自然体で女の味方である性格の良さが、熱狂的な支持をうむ理由の一つでもある訳だ。

Kanayan is an opinion leader, natural, hard worker, a bit headstrong, and always trying best to be Kawaii. She is living a lovely life story that gives influence on many.

カナやんはオピニオンリーダーとして、天然で、頑張り屋さんで、ちょっと気が強くて、でもいつも可愛くしていることを忘れない、素敵な女の子の物語を生きているのだ。

When analyzing Kanayan, the craftsmanship as a singer and producer, the principle of being a perfectionist is evident. The way she sings, the lyrics, the stage direction, she is meticulous in all the details and she is proud of representing the world beautifully. Or her blood type is A, then she is programmed so by nature. (Is this Japanese myth?) She gives us impression as if when sewing a dress, the hem is neatly finished. Or when folding a laundry, nicely folded meeting the end and the other end and put in a shelf in order.

カナやんの歌手及びプロデューサーとしての手腕を分析すると、そこには物作りに対するある種の完璧主義が見えてくる。歌唱法にしても、歌詞にしても、演出にしても、一つ一つの曲をキチッキチッと歌い、その世界観を美しくまとめ上げることに誇りを持っている。或いはA型だから、根っからそういう気質なのかも知れない。例えばドレスを縫った後の裾始末がきっちりしている様な印象があり、洗濯物を畳んでいるとしたら、一つずつキレイに端を揃えて畳み美しく収納している様な感じがする。

A new song she released after long break is ‘Eyes on you’, she sings she wants to be loved more, the love is insufficient, singing as if crying, and vulnerability as a girl was there. And in another song she sings “the passionate affair of the century, the ending is not seen yet” and “I noticed your crush” “she laughs a lot, pretty, smart, and good hearted, she is so lovely, that makes me even sadder” The lyrics is so honest. The backbone of untwisted heart is very Kanayan. Oh, she is always Kawaii. Yes, Kawaii is righteous.

長期休み明けに出した新曲『Eyes on you』は、愛する人にもっと愛してよ！愛が足りない！と不安の中で泣きそうな声で歌うもので、そこには女の子としての傷つきやすさが表れていた。そして、『また君に恋をする』では「今世紀最大の大恋愛、結末はまだ分からない」と歌う。「気づいちゃったな、君の好きな人」のことを「よく笑って、美人で、頭もいい、その上、性格もいい、あの子なら納得、余計悲しいな」と言うのは素直な言葉だ。そしてこの歌詞の世界観を支える、ねじくれていない性格の良さがカナやんなのだ。ああ、カナやんはいつも可愛い。やっぱり、可愛いは正義だ。
